

Physique Division competitors are lean, fit and muscular, yet do not have the muscle mass or extreme leanness required for the Bodybuilding Division.
Athletes wear conventional Board Shorts with relatively loose legs.
Judges are looking for:
- Nicely shaped overall muscle
- A small waist
- Good V-taper
- Good abs
Competitors are also judged for their male fitness model qualities. Good looks, grooming, and overall aesthetic appeal are taken into consideration as judges look for the best overall package.
Judges are looking for a lean, fit, muscular physique that is balanced and aesthetically pleasing.
Judges are not looking for the level of muscle mass or extreme leanness that are necessary for success in bodybuilding. It is very important to display nicely shaped overall muscle, a small waist, good V-taper and good abs. Competitors are also judged for their male fitness model qualities.

Note: No bodybuilding poses should be done by Men’s Physique competitors during competition!
Men’s Physique competition attire should be conventional board shorts with inseams no shorter than 6 inches and no longer than 11 inches. The waistband should fit no lower than 3 inches below the navel. The legs of the shorts should fit relatively loosely.

First Timer
Is for a competitor in their first year ever of competing
Novice Short
Is for a competitor in their first year ever of competing and 177cm or under
Novice Tall
Is for a competitor in their first year ever of competing and 17.01cm or higher
Under 30
29 years & younger on day of contest
30 and Over
30 years & over on day of contest
Masters
40 years & over on day of contest
Grand Masters
50 years & over on day of contest
Open Short
Is open to all competitors who MUST have PLACED TOP 3 in any other federations in their competition history in order to compete in this category and must be 177cm or shorter
Open Tall
Is open to all competitors who MUST have PLACED TOP 3 in any other federations in their competition history in order to compete in this category and must be 177.01cm or higher

In the judging round, competitors situated middle of stage (maximum 5) will face the judging panel and perform four quarter turns as a group line-up, the MC will prompt competitors through each quarter turn, please listen and watch officials cue to perform the below turns:
- Front Symmetry pose
- Turn right
- Left side symmetry pose
- Turn right
- Rear symmetry pose
- Turn right
- Right symmetry pose
- Turn right
- You are now facing the front
During the stage walk and compulsory quarter turns the judges will be assessing on stage presence and confidence, execution of quarter turns, physique walk, appearance and overall presentation.
Further comparisons and call outs of competitors may follow. On cue if you hear your number called you may be asked to come to the very front stage for the judges to make further comparisons. These comparisons may happen several times so please listen for instructions and your number while onstage to ensure a professional presence is kept.
